YAKIMA, Wash.-YWCA Yakima has launched the latest phase of its capital campaign to raise the last $1 million to reach its $2 million goal for an expanded domestic violence shelter.

The YWCA’s “Bringing It Home II” Capital Campaign is looking for community support to raise the final $1 million needed.

According to a press release on the capital campaign, YWCA Yakima had to turn away over 1,000 families due to limited capacity in 2023.

By expanding its domestic violence shelter capacity, the YWCA will be able to provide comprehensive support, including case management, legal help and holistic care, as well as create a safe space to empower survivors of domestic violence.

Donations to help expand YWCA’s domestic violence shelter can be made online.

More information on donating and YWCA Yakima and its expansion efforts is available by contacting Cheri Kilty at 1-509-248-7796 or ckilty@ywcayakima.org.
