ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Young fishers in Ellensburg and surrounding areas are invited to the Fourth Annual Ryan Thompson “Cops and Bobbers” fishing event at the Ryan Thompson Memorial Pond in Ellensburg.
The event has multiple start times throughout the day on April 13 between 8 a.m. and noon. Each time slot has limited capacity and fishers can sign up online.
Fishers 14 years old and younger can fish in the pond, get a free lunch, compete for prizes and spend time with local law enforcement members.
Fishing equipment, bait and fish cleaning services are provided. Fishing will be open to all youth under 15 after 1 p.m.
The Cops and Bobbers event aims to honor Deputy Ryan Thompson and allows the youth in Kittitas County to build relationships with law enforcement.
Volunteers and donations are needed for the event. Potential volunteers can contact Sergeant Nate Foster with the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office at 509-962-7525 while donations can be left at KCSO made out to the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office Association.
