Yakima’s Community Christmas Tree makes its debut Nov. 22

YAKIMA, Wash. – The Downtown Association of Yakima is working with the City’s Public Works Division and two local crane and hauling businesses to bring the Community Christmas Tree to Millennium Plaza on Fri., Nov. 22.

Yakima residents Barry and Jan Rosenkranz are providing the tree for the second year in a row.

The tree is expected to be transported between 10 a.m. and noon on Friday, which may impact traffic from 40th Avenue and Fruitvale Boulevard to North 5th Avenue, along with Yakima Avenue to 3rd Street.

To accommodate the tree’s installation, Third Street from Yakima Avenue to Chestnut Avenue will be closed from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The parking spaces adjacent to Millennium Plaza on 3rd Street will also be closed.

While the tree will be installed on Friday, the official lighting is planned for Sun., Dec. 1.
