TACOMA, Wash.-MultiCare Health System’s Community Partnership Fund announced the award of $800,000 to nonprofit organizations throughout Washington.
The funds will go to nonprofits focused on behavioral health, housing and homelessness, food insecurity, health care and children’s needs, according to a MultiCare press release.
“The Community Partnership Fund is one of the ways our mission of partnering for healing and a healthy future is put into action,” said Marce Edwards Olson, vice president and chief marketing and communications officer for MultiCare.
Nonprofits in the Puget Sound, Inland Northwest and Yakima Valley focused on strengthening the overall health of their communities will be awarded funds.
Yakima Valley nonprofits receiving funds:
Campbell Farm: Funding for the Thrive! Infant Mother Care will help ensure healthy births and thriving mothers and infants.Catholic Charities Housing Services: Pathways to Healthy Living grant will allow for coordination with community partners and the residential services program.Entre Hermanos: Funding will help launch virtual HIV support services.La Casa Hogar: Funding will help make English classes, pre-GED, leadership development, and pre-school education available to 400+ Latino immigrant families in 2024.Northwest Harvest: Grant funds will be used to support the distribution of produce and other foods purchased specifically for the shoppers and customers of Fruitvale Community Market.People for People: Funds will deliver nutritious meals to vulnerable seniors that need home delivered meals.Rod’s House: Funds would be used to support case management efforts as they guide youth and young adults to improve their educational and/or economical potential.Salvation Army: Funding will help purchase general goods, culturally appropriate goods, and youth-friendly goods for distribution through various food security programs.Sunrise Outreach Center of Yakima: Funds will be used to help cover the operating costs of the food pantry program, the weekend meal backpack program for children, and the homeless outreach programToppenish Community Chest: Funds will be used to provide perishable foods or nonfood products that are not easily accessible to the Toppenish Community Chest food bank.Triumph Treatment Services: Funds will be used to provide an additional licensed mental health counselor.Wellness House: Funds will be used for support services and program operations.
According to MultiCare, award recipients were chosen based on how well their programs address the most pressing health needs within the hospital district as identified in the MultiCare Community Health Needs Assessment.
“By supporting these organizations doing great work in our communities, we are able to help improve access to care and services beyond the walls of our hospitals and clinics,” said Edwards Olson.
