YAKIMA, Wash.-The Yakima Valley Museum is hosting a free public talk on the historical role of Black women in the civil rights movement in Washington.
Historian and Educator Quin’Nita Cobbins-Modica will present “We Are Also in Bondage Here: Black Women in the Washington Civil Rights Movement” on April 25 at 6 p.m.
The public talk examines Black women’s collective leadership efforts and activist work in Washington State, which resulted in significant legislative changes and profoundly impacted the state’s residents, according to a YVM social media post.
Cobbins-Modica’s research focuses on the history of Black women, social activism, and politics in the American West.
The Yakima Valley Museum is located at 2105 Tieton Drive.
