Yakima Valley high schools hosting running start information nights

YAKIMA, Wash.-Students interested in the Running Start Program at Yakima Valley College and their families are invited to a series of information nights on the program.

The online and in-person meetings are a chance for current sophomores and juniors to learn how the program can enable them to earn up to two years of college credit tuition-free.

YVC’s Running Start program offers eligible high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to enroll in college classes at YVC’s Yakima and Grandview campuses, as well as online courses, according to the college.

Public, private and homeschool students are also eligible for Running Start. The priority application deadline for Fall Quarter 2024 is April 12, with the final deadline on Aug. 8. More information on YVC’s running start program is available online through the college.

The benefits of Running Start, according to YVC:

Students can get a head start on college by earning up to two years of college credit.Students can attend classes full or part-time.Students can try diverse classes.The program can provide a smooth transition to college life.Students can save thousands on their college degrees and transition to a career more quickly.
