Yakima Valley College to host glass recycling drive Oct. 5

YAKIMA, Wash. – Yakima Valley College’s STEM program and Yakima Recycles Glass are working together in holding a low-cost glass recycling drive on Sat., Oct. 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Attendees can drop off glass food and beverage containers and glass cosmetic containers. Automotive glass, Pyrex dishware and tempered glass are not allowed.

There is a disposal cost of $5 per cubic foot of material that covers transportation. A cubic foot equates to about 16 wine bottles or about 30 12-ounce beer bottles.

Attendees are asked to rinse out bottles and remove metal caps and collars. Volunteers will inspect each glass piece and collect donations.

The event takes place in YVC’s Parking Lot H off 12th Avenue near the Parker Faller Baseball Field.
