Yakima Rotary providing Hoover Elementary students with backpacks, supplies

YAKIMA, Wash.-Students at Hoover Elementary School will start the year with some new supplies thanks to the Yakima Rotary Club.

The Rotary Club in partnership with the Yakima School District will be giving out backpacks full of school supplies to students in need on Thursday, Aug. 22, the first day of school.

“We are incredibly thankful to the Rotary Club of Yakima for their dedication to our students,” said Yakima School District Superintendent Trevor Greene.

The backpack distribution event will start at 9:10 a.m. in the Multipurpose Room at Hoover and will include presentations to different grade levels before school staff and Rotary members distribute backpacks.

9:10-9:30 a.m. Assembly for 2nd and 3rd grades welcome and introductions by Mr. Sanchez and Mr. Lara, followed by a Rotary message from Mr. DeGrasse, and the presentation of backpacks.9:35-9:55 a.m. Assembly for 1st and 5th grades.10:05-10:25 a.m. Assembly for 4th graders.

“This kind of community partnership is vital in helping our students start the school year prepared and confident,” said Superintendent Greene.
