Yakima Police request charges against county coroner after evidence of alleged poisoning fails to line up

YAKIMA, Wash. – The Yakima Police Department has requested Yakima County Coroner Jim Curtice to be charged, according to a press release.

Police say that Curtice reported an alleged assault via poisoning, prompting an investigation.

However, the investigation found that evidence did not match Curtice’s report, per YPD.

Due to conflict of interest, YPD says that the City of Ellensburg’s Prosecutor’s Office will look over the evidence and decide whether to charge Curtice.

YPD Public Information Officer Yvette Inzunza told NonStop Local that the allegations are not related to third-degree assault charges he faced in May 2023, which were later dropped.

NonStop Local has reached out to the City of Ellensburg and the Yakima County Coroner’s office for more information.

This is a developing story, which means information could change. We are working to report timely and accurate information as we get it.
