YAKIMA, Wash.-Yakima Police Chief Matt Murray is retiring in June.
Chief Murray announced his retirement on May 8, his last day will be June 30, according to a YPD social media post.
Murray has been Chief since 2019 and is retiring at the same time as his wife, who is retiring from the Yakima School District.
Chief Murray addressed the Yakima community in his retirement announcement issued via social media, which read in part:
“You embraced me with open arms and welcomed me into your homes, showed me the things you were most proud of, and shared some of the things you were most concerned with. Your trust has been instrumental in our success and your voice guided our efforts.”
