Yakima parking enforcement moratorium extended until April

YAKIMA, Wash.-The moratorium on the enforcement of parking violations in downtown Yakima has been extended through April 19.

The Yakima City Council voted to extend the moratorium on time limitations for parked cars on streets and City-owned parking lots in the Central Business District at its meeting on Feb. 6.

A 60-day moratorium on parking enforcement was originally passed by the City Council on Dec. 12 and would have expired on Feb. 12 if the council hadn’t extended it.

The City Council held a study session on Jan. 23 to consider public comment on the downtown parking situation. According to a Yakima press release, the Council will continue to evaluate options for downtown parking and enforcement during the moratorium.

Parking infractions that impact public safety will continue to be enforced during the extended moratorium.
