YAKIMA, Wash.- On January 19, employees of the Yakima Humane Society came into work to find a box taped close outside the front gate.
A Facebook video from the YHS reveals there was a gray cat in the box who was left in the cold overnight.
Employees found the cat in time who was unharmed from the cold temperatures. As no employees are on site overnight, the cat could have been seriously affected by being left in the box.
“Since our shelter is not staffed 24/7 it is dangerous to leave animals at our gates after hours- especially those that are taped shut in a box and have no way of escaping to find shelter or warmth,” says the Humane Society on the Facebook post.
YHS is still treating the cat and she will be listed for adoption once ready. If you recognize the cat, you are asked to contact the Humane Society at 509-457-6854.
