SELAH, Wash. – The Yakima Health District says a harmful algal bloom was found at Elton Pond in Selah.
Algal blooms are a rapid growth of algae or cyanobacteria in water that can harm people, animals and the environment.
YHD urges the public to stay away from Elton Pond and to follow guidance on posted signs.
YHD says symptoms of those who ingested toxins from the bloom may experience symptoms such as:
Bad taste in mouthLoss of appetiteMalaise or lethargyHeadache or feverNausea, vomiting or diarrheaBlood in urine or dark urineAcute hepatitis or jaundice
