WASHINGTON, D.C.-An Emergency Medical Technician from Yakima will be honored at a Stars of Life celebration in Washington, D.C.
Dwight Derby, an EMT, EMS Field Training Officer and volunteer firefighter with Advanced Life Systems in Yakima will be recognized at the celebration that runs Nov. 11-13.
The Stars of Life Celebration honors hometown heroes, while recognizing the critical role of EMS personnel, according to an American Ambulance Services press release.
Presented by Metro West Ambulance Services, 143 Stars of Life honorees were selected from around the country.
“We honor this year’s Stars of Life and thank them for their tireless service to local communities across the nation,” said Randy Strozyk, President of the American Ambulance Association.
During the Stars of Life ceremony honorees will receive medallions and awards in thanks for their service.
