OLYMPIA, Wash.-The credentials of a Yakima County treatment provider have been suspended due to allegations of unprofessional conduct with a minor.
The Substance Use Disorder Professional trainee was arrested for allegedly communicating with a minor patient with sexually suggestive messages, according to the Washington Department of Health.
The counselor, a female, was credentialed in 2021 and provided counseling at a school in the Yakima School District during the 2022-2023 school year.
According to Department of Health documents, the Yakima Police Department established probable cause to arrest the counselor in Nov. 2023 for communicating with a minor for immoral purposes and the case was sent to the Yakima County Prosecutor’s Office for any possible charges.
The Substance Use Disorder Professional has 20 days to respond to the charges and request a hearing, according to the Department of Health.
She cannot practice in Washington until the allegations against her are resolved.
