MISSOULA, Mont. – Xplorer Maps, a local business in Missoula, is set to release its first map of the city, aiming to celebrate the community from a contemporary perspective. The map will be unveiled to the public on Saturday at the Xplorer Maps location on S 3rd Street W.

Co-founder Greg Robitaille shared the vision behind the map. “We wanted to do as comprehensive a job as we could possibly do, to tell a Missoula story… Not necessarily from a historical perspective but from a contemporary community perspective,” he said.

The map’s unveiling will be preceded by a VIP gathering on Friday, with Mayor Andrea Davis among the invitees. Robitaille, originally from Canada, hopes the map will resonate with both locals and visitors. “Hopefully make Missoulians proud of our community when they see it and something that they want to share, but also for visitors to see it and go like ‘Oh that’s exactly what I loved about Missoula. They captured that spirit and vibrancy pretty darn well,'” he said.

The project is a collaboration with Destination Missoula, and after Saturday, the map will be exclusively available at the Xplorer Maps location. In 2025, it will be showcased at First Friday events for broader public viewing. While the map itself remains under wraps, Robitaille mentioned it will be available on magnets, stickers, and prints.

Proceeds from the map’s print sales will support the River Ambassador Program by the Clark Fork Coalition. The program is significant as the river is a vital part of Missoula, attracting many to the area.
