WALLA WALLA, Wash.-Walla Walla Community College is partnering with Bellingham Technical College to boost the number of students in technical programs.

WWCC and BTC will split a $2.75 million, five-year grant from the Department of Education to fund the Redesigning Professional Technical Programs for Student Access & Success project.

“WWCC is focused on preparing students for the types of high-wage and high-demand jobs that will benefit them, their families, and the entire state’s economy,” said WWCC President Chad Hickox.

According to a joint press release on the project, the two colleges will work to remove barriers to entry and provide more support to students throughout the application, enrollment and registration processes.

The colleges are also expecting more active communication and outreach with students through text and chats.

Both colleges also plan to create flexible learning models in professional technical programs to increase access and provide a student-friendly schedule that will allow students to meet work, family and school commitments.

“We look forward to partnering with BTC on a project so critical to the future,” said Hickox.
