WSU Tri-Cities sees biggest first-year class ever this fall

RICHLAND, Wash.-Washington State University Tri-Cities welcomed its largest-ever first year class to campus this fall.

“The energy on campus is palpable,” said WSU Chancellor Sandra Haynes. “We are thrilled to see such a remarkable increase in total enrollment and especially first-year student enrollment this year.”

First-year student enrollment grew by 16 percent this fall, while overall enrollment for the fall term increased by 3.3 percent, according to the University.

Affordability, its small school setting, low student-to-instructor ratio and the ability to leverage WSU partnerships locally, nationally and internationally make WSU Tri-Cities an attractive option for local students and contributed to the increase in enrollment, according to a WSU press release.

“Providing an affordable, high-quality education to the Tri-Cities and the surrounding area is so important to not only the team, but our entire campus,” said Jamie Owens, Campus Director of Admissions.

Helping local students through the application and financial aid process also contributed to the high enrollment, according to Owens.
