RICHLAND, Wash. – WSU Tri-Cities is taking nominations for its Women of Distinction Awards, which recognize women who have worked to improve the status and equality of women.
The award is given to five individuals each year that meet some or all of the following criteria:
Shows leadership in their area of expertiseServes as a role model and/or mentor to other womenAdvocates for positive social change that closes the leadership gap and makes a more equitable societyShows commitment to the missions of WSU Tri-CitiesShows commitment to social justice and inclusionHas earned respect in their communitiesSupports polices, practices, attitudes and/or actions intended to produce equitable outcomes for allGives back to the community through their time, talent and/or resources.
“The Women of Distinction Awards hold a special significance for WSU Tri-Cities by celebrating the achievements of women and allies in the Tri-Cities” said Chancellor Sandra Haynes. “These awards create awareness of what these individuals bring to our community.”
Nominations can be submitted online by Feb. 10. The ceremony and reception is planned for Thu., March 27 at 5:30 p.m. in the WSU Tri-Cities Consolidated Information Center (CIC), with an exhibit showcasing past award winners set for March 3 to April 4 in the CIC Art Center.
