WSP looking for suspected hit-and-run driver that seriously injured driver south of Mattawa on Sept. 12

BENTON COUNTY, Wash.-The Washington State Patrol is now asking for help from the public in identifying the driver suspected in a hit-and-run on Sept. 12 that left one driver seriously injured.

Washington State Patrol Troopers responded to the crash on SR 24 about 14 miles south of Mattawa around 5:30 p.m.

According to the WSP, a black Dodge Dodge Caravan, driven by a 60-year-old Spokane man, was eastbound when they made a U-turn and hit a silver BMW sedan head-on in the westbound lane.

The driver of the BMW, a 24-year-old Prosser man was transported to Kadlec Hospital after the crash with serious injuries.

Witnesses reportedly saw two people run from the Dodge after the crash, one of whom has been identified as Bruce Roderick, according to the WSP.

SR 24 was closed in both directions south of the Vernita Bridge for about an hour and a half after the crash, but has since reopened, according to the Department of Transportation.
