Wrong-way driver who killed two kids in head-on crash on I-82 sentenced to twenty years

YAKIMA, COUNTY, Wash.-The wrong-way driver who caused a crash that killed two children on I-82 near Sunnyside on February 28 was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Nov. 8.

According to court documents, Keith Andrew Goings pleaded guilty to two counts of vehicular homicide, vehicular assault and an eluding charge in Yakima County Superior Court.

Goings was driving at speeds of up to 111 miles per hour when law enforcement broke off pursuit for safety reasons in Kittitas County. He was then observed at speeds of over 90 miles per hour flashing his headlights and weaving in and out of traffic in Yakima County before the deadly head-on crash.

Sunnyside Police then saw Goings enter the off-ramp from the eastbound I82 exit going the wrong way.

Goings hit a car head-on, killing an eight-year-old girl and a six-year-old boy from Grandview and injuring the driver and another passenger.
