WorkSource hosting Suicide Prevention Training in December

KENNEWICK, Wash.-The community is invited to participate in a Suicide Prevention Training workshop on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at WorkSource Columbia Basin in Kennewick.

WorkSource and the Washington Department of Veteran Affairs are hosting the LEARN Saves Lives training for all job seekers, community members, family and friends from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Attendees of the training will learn how to recognize the warning signs of suicide and take meaningful action to prevent it by empowering people to identify, understand and support those at risk, according to WorkSource.

Main objectives of the suicide prevention training.

Explain the health issue of suicide: Learn insights into why people consider suicide and the common risk factors.Identify and support someone at risk: Recognize warning signs and offer support through listening and conversation.Apply the LEARN model: Look for signs, empathize and listen, ask about suicide, reduce the danger and next steps.

Seats at the LEARN Suicide Prevention Training are limited and spots may be reserved now.

WorkSource Columbia Basin is located at 815 N. Kellogg St. Suite D in Kennewick.
