Winter break events to keep kids engaged

TRI-CITIES, Wash.-Looking for ways to keep the kids engaged during winter break? Here’s a list of some activities and camps being held around the region while kids are out of school.

Hosting a winter break event for kids or know of one we missed? Feel free to let us know and we’ll add it to our list.

Mid-Columbia Libraries: Take the libraries reading challenge from Dec. 18 through Jan. 31. Registration is now open.

Yakima Valley Libraries: Drop In Winter Crafts: Dec. 18-29. Check your local library for dates and times. Crafts are geared toward children age five and up and include origami, board games and scavenger hunts.

Reach Museum:

Winter Solstice on Thursday, Dec. 21 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.Boxing Day on Tuesday, Dec. 26 from 1-3 p.m.Preschool Activity Time on Thursday, Dec. 14 at 10 a.m.Holiday STEAM on Saturday, Dec. 16 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Starbase Rees STEAM Camps for 4th through 6th graders:

Dec. 18-21 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Registration is open online.Jan. 2-5 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Registration is open online.
