ZILLAH, Wash.-Fire crews with Yakima County Fire District #5 are currently on the scene of a large wildfire northeast of Zillah.

The fire that burned mostly brush and grew to about 300 acres in size is now almost out, according to Joey Weedin, the YCFD 5 Staging Manager.

Two helicopters based out of Yakima were used to fight the fire that was fueled by dry brush and pushed by the wind.

According to Weedin, no residents in the area are currently threatened by the fire.

Power in the areas of Toppenish and Zillah was turned off as a precautionary measure, with the emergency de-energization lasting for about 30-45 minutes, according to Simon Gutierrez with Pacific Power.

It is now the policy of Pacific Power to cut the electricity to areas of active fire, according to Weedin.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
