Footage shows a wild bear nicknamed “Beckham” having some dentistry done after being hit by a vehicle.

The Syrian Brown Bear – a smaller subspecies of the brown bear – was found on the Getap-Shatin road in Armenia.

The bear, named Beckham, was struck by a vehicle and left with a suspected head injury and a possible broken jaw.

He was rescued by the Armenian group Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) and International Animal Rescue who said the injuries were “critical” and would need “life-saving surgery.”

Footage shows the mammal curled up in a ball in a wooded area as rescuers assess the damage.

The bear – lovingly nicknamed ‘Beckham’ – can be seen having his jaw rewired following the collision.

In another clip, he can be heard snoring as rescuers apply a numbing gel to his jaw prior to the operation.

Thankfully, rescuers worked around the clock and the operation was a success

With Beckham now on the road to recovery, a spokesperson for International Animal Rescue said: “He is eating, becoming more active, and, with each passing day, his wounds are healing.

“Our expert teams continue to monitor him 24/7, nurturing him back to health and preparing him for the ultimate goal, release back into the wild where he belongs.

“This story could have ended in tragedy, but because of the unwavering dedication of the FPWC and International Animal Rescue teams, Beckham now has a future.

“Beckham will now recover at our rescue center and will be released when he is fully recovered.”
