YAKIMA, Wash.-A White Swan woman pleaded guilty on June 12 to murder on the Yakama Reservation and will be sentenced in September.
Tahsheena Stacy Sam, 35, pleaded guilty to the 2017 Christmas Day murder of Destiny Lloyd, an enrolled member of the Yakama Nation.
According to a press release on the plea deal from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Lloyd was with a group of friends on Christmas day when Sam, whom Lloyd did not know, joined the group.
Later that night Sam and a group of others assaulted and robbed Lloyd near Harrah Road and Marion Drain Road on the Yakama Nation Indian Reservation.
Lloyd was left on the side of the road, however, Sam and the group of people who robbed and assaulted her were concerned that she would report the incident and returned to the scene.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Sam then found Lloyd and killed her by hitting her in the head several times with a wrench.
Lloyd’s body was found by someone driving by a few days later.
The murder was investigated by the FBI and Yakama Nation Tribal Police and charges against another co-defendant are still pending, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
