YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash.-Scammers are reportedly targeting the White Swan community in the aftermath of the Slide Ranch Fire that burned over 3,100 acres and 20 homes.
According to Yakima County Fire District #5, scammers purporting to be with the district are contacting White Swan Residents and asking for personal information, saying they are helping with disaster relief related to the fire.
YCFD5 does not go door-to-door asking for information in regards to disaster assistance and anyone contacted by the individuals perpetrating the scam should contact Yakama Nation Police.
According to YCFD5, White Swan residents should ask for identification if anyone comes to their door claiming to work for the district and should report the incident if identification can’t be provided.
