WHITE SWAN, Wash. – The Slide Ranch Fire in the White Swan area burned over 3,000 acres and destroyed nearly 20 homes throughout the weekend of June 22.
In response, a donation center was opened at the White Swan Community Center, which will be closing on Wed., July 3. The donations provide support for those who lost their homes in the fire.
Donald Isadore and Carol Sutterlict started the donation center and have since taken in an overwhelming amount of donations from the White Swan community.
Several pieces of clothing were donated to the point where they don’t need anymore clothing. Washington Beef also donated 1,000 pounds of beef that has been cooked up fresh each day.
Along with donations, the two are very grateful for the volunteers making a difference for the fire victims.
“It’s with a good heart that all these people have come together as one on behalf of those that have been affected by this,” said Isadore. “Because when it affects the town of White Swan, it affects the whole community.”
Though clothing is no longer needed, Isadore and Sutterlict say that cleaning supplies like soap and disinfectant wipes are needed along with food, as many frozen meat like deer, elk and salmon gained from hunting seasons were lost.
