WestRock Company factory in Yakima catches fire, cause under investigation

YAKIMA, Wash. – The WestRock Company factory in Yakima caught fire on Wednesday, causing internal damage to the building.

Yakima Deputy Fire Chief DJ Goldsmith says the fire was reported at 6:30 p.m. and was put out quickly within 15 to 20 minutes.

The fire reportedly got into the roof area of the factory and stayed there, not damaging any other structures.

No one was injured in the fire, which is under investigation by the Yakima Fire Department.

Longfibre Road was closed from East Washington Avenue to West Valley Mall Boulevard but has since been reopened.
