WEST RICHLAND, Wash.-West Richland Police held a press conference on the double-murder of April 22 and the ongoing manhunt for Elias Huizar.
According to WRPD, the investigation is ongoing and the department is making progress and will “continue their efforts until the suspect and child are located.”
Huizar allegedly shot Amber Rodriguez, his ex-wife, at William Wiley Elementary and fled with a one-year-old child.
A second victim was later found at Huizar’s home.
Benton County Prosecutor Eric Eisinger spoke at the press conference and confirmed that the child with Huizar is his son.
Eisinger also announced that a nationwide arrest warrant was issued for Huizar on the night of April 22 for first degree murder with an aggravated domestic violence charge.
Huizar was out on $250,000 bail on two rape charges, including second degree rape of a child, according to Eisinger, and additional charges may be pending.
School was cancelled at William Wiley on April 23 and the Richland School District plans to have resources available for staff and students following the shooting when school resumes on April 24, according to the district.
