WEST RICHLAND, Wash. – A homeowner in West Richland helped put out a fire on Thu., Oct. 31.
Benton County Fire District 4 Captain Bonnie Rodgers says the fire was reported at 5:30 p.m. on Blue Heron Boulevard. The fire was reportedly burning inside the walls.
The owner of the home acted quickly and had already extinguished most of the fire with a garden hose before crews arrived. It was determined to be put out by 6 p.m.
The fire is under investigation by BCFD4, however the cause is believed to be an electrical problem involving a propane tank-powered fireplace inside.
Blue Heron Boulevard was temporarily closed between Osprey Lane and Raven Court while crews worked on the fire, but has since been reopened.
Crews from BCFD4, Richland Fire and Benton County Fire District 2 responded.
