TUMWATER, Wash.-Washington State’s highest-in-the-nation minimum wage will increase to $16.66 on Jan. 1, 2025.
Under Washington State Law, the Department of Labor and Industries calculates the minimum wage for the coming year based on the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers.
L&I announced the 2.35 percent increase on Sept. 30.
The state minimum wage applies to workers aged 16 and older and can be set higher by specific cities, where locations such as Seattle and Bellingham have minimum wages higher than the state average, according to L&I.
The national minimum wage remains set at $7.25.
