OLYMPIA, Wash.-The largest labor union in Washington State has endorsed voting “uncommitted” instead of for President Biden in the Presidential Primary on March. 12.
The Washington chapter of the United Food and Commercial Workers, over 50,000 members strong, cited concerns over President Biden’s support for Israel’s war against Gaza and concerns about his political strength as reasons for voting “uncommitted.”
According to NBC News reporting, the Executive Board of the union voted in favor of “uncommitted” at its meeting on Feb. 28, however, it remained committed to voting for Democratic candidates in the fall.
The UFCW 3000 decision could be a sign that the Democratic base may not be fully on-board with President Biden’s re-election bid, according to NBC’s Alex Seitz-Wald.
