TRI-CITIES, Wash.-Washington residents enjoy the second safest working conditions in the country according to a recent study.

The law firm Atticus surveyed 1,000 employees and studied data from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, as well as the Bureau of Labor Statistics to determine the safest states for workers.

According to Atticus, Washington State has the least OSHA work-related fatalities in the U.S., with zero deaths reported per 100,000 workers.

Workplace safety can vary by state based on multiple factors, including different laws or regulations, the enforcement of those regulations and the difference in industries from state to state.

Atticus found that the transportation, moving, construction and manufacturing jobs had the most injuries. Transportation accounted for 30 percent of all work-related fatalities, while the most common non-fatal injuries were exposure to harmful substances or environments.
