Walla Walla School District names finalists for Sharpstein Elementary principal position

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Three finalists for the Sharpstein Elementary School principal position have been named by the Walla Walla School District in a press release.

The candidates are Sarah Edwards, Bailey Hayes and Amy Ford. Each can be met by the community at a Wed., May 8 meeting from 4 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. at the Sharpstein Elementary library.

Edwards is currently the principal of Discovery Primary School in Fife, Washington. She was previously the assistant principal of Discovery and two other schools prior to that.

She holds a Master’s in Education Administration from the University of Alaska and a Master’s in Education in Elementary Education from Grand Valley State University.

Hayes is the assistant principal at Prospect Point Elementary in Walla Walla and previously spent seven years teaching. She was on multiple committees as a teacher including English-Language Arts adoptions, Promise Standards review, Discipline/Behavior and Scheduling.

She holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Washington State University.

Ford is currently the assistant principal at Green Park Elementary in Walla Walla. She was previously the director of Walla Walla Online and had spent 21 years in the district as a teacher at Berney Elementary.

Ford earned an undergraduate degree in Communications and a Master’s in Education at Portland State University. She later received her Principal Certification from Eastern Washington University.

At the meeting on May 8, attendees will fill out candidate feedback cards and are asked to attend all three candidate sessions.
