WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Walla Walla County Emergency Management announced a public safety advisory on Wednesday regarding rising water in Mill Creek over the next few days due to incoming storms.
The lowered water levels in Mill Creek that have been common over the summer are expected to rise with the potential to be rapid and unexpected.
Flows in Mill Creek are expected to rise to 734 cfs (cubic feet per second) at the Kooskooskie gauge near Walla Walla and will potentially peak in Walla Walla ranging from 880 cfs to 1000 cfs.
Upcoming storm systems are expected to be the cause of the rising water levels with effects expected to be seen on Saturday.
Walla Walla County Emergency Management advises for people to avoid holding recreational actives at places close to rivers or streams.
No widespread flooding is expected from the upcoming storms.
