WALLA WALLA, Wash.-An improperly installed wood stove caused extensive damage to a home early on the morning of Dec. 5, according to the Walla Walla Fire Department.

Firefighters from Walla Walla Fire Stations one and two responded to the fire at 1005 W. Pine Street around 12:15 a.m. and found smoke coming from the home and fire outside the home near a wood stove pipe.

The construction and layout of the home made the fire difficult to fight, according to WWFD, and the fire rekindled at 3:57 a.m.

The fire, which caused an estimated $250,000 in damage, was put out around 4:52 a.m. and no injuries were reported in the blaze.
