WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The Walla Walla Fire Department and Walla Walla County Fire District 4 responded to a house fire on the 500 block of South 2nd Avenue Wednesday afternoon, according to a press release.
WWFD says crews responded to the fire at 2:17 p.m. and initially saw smoke coming out of the attic of a two-story house. Crews attacked the fire quickly after confirming that all residents were out of the home.
The fire was primarily in the attic and knee walls. Crews had the fire under control in just over an hour at 3:21 p.m.
After investigations, WWFD says the cause was very likely to be a faulty chimney.
No injuries were reported. Property damage is estimated to be $200,000 and the Red Cross and Helpline are providing assistance to the now displaced family.
