WALLA WALLA, Wash.-A draft of the Walla Walla County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan Update is now available for public review and comment.
Starting Oct. 2 residents can view a PDF version of the plan and comments may be submitted until Oct. 25.
Walla Walla County has been working on updates to the HMP and Community Wildfire Protection Plans since January.
According to Walla Walla County Emergency Management, the county has been working with various representatives from local agencies, organizations, governments, and stakeholder groups, along with a consulting firm on the updates to the plans that were last revised in 2018 and 2017.
The public comment portion of the planning process is Walla Walla County’s latest effort to involve residents in the plan update process in addition to a series of surveys, social media posts and community events, according to a press release on the comment period.
Comments should be submitted to Walla Walla County Emergency Management at 509-524-2900 or via email at emd@co.walla-walla.wa.us.
Public comments will be reviewed before the plan is finalized, which is expected to happen in Dec.
