Wall heater starts fire, causes over $100,000 in damages to Walla Walla home

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – An electric wall heater caused a fire in Walla Walla on the evening of Saturday, Dec. 30., causing $101,500 in damages according to the Walla Walla Fire Department.

WWFD says crews were sent to Hope Street in Walla Walla for a residential fire at 11:30 p.m. with reports of heavy smoke and flames showing at the back of the home.

Crews confirmed that no one was in the home then worked to extinguish the fire which was isolated to the back of the building.

WWFD says the fire was under control at 11:55 p.m. and no one was injured. An investigation determined that the fire was an accident and caused by an electrical wall heater.

WWFD was supported by the Walla Walla Police Department and Walla Walla County Fire District 4 in fighting the fire.
