ROYAL CITY, Wash.-National Wildlife Refuge Week will be celebrated with a walk at the Columbia National Wildlife Refuge on October 14.
The “Walk for the Wild” will start at the Rimrock Trailhead at 9:00 a.m. and is scheduled to last for three hours, however, attendees are welcome to participate as long as they want.
According to USFWS a Ranger will also be available on the walk to answer questions along the way.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services is partnering with 567 Refuges across the country to encourage residents to get out and enjoy the outdoors during National Wildlife Refuge Week.
The Columbia National Wildlife Refuge was created by the Missoula Floods and is fed by groundwater from the Columbia Basin Project. According to a press release from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Rimrock Trail is 3.3 miles long with little elevation change along the way.
