Victims of Sept. 28 shooting near Cowiche Canyon identified

YAKIMA, Wash. – The Yakima County Coroner’s Office identified the man and woman who were killed as a result of a shooting on Sept. 28 near Cowiche Canyon.

Chief Deputy Coroner Marshall Slight says Dominique Mitchell, 43, and Andrea Jasso Alcazar, 47, died of gunshot wounds to the torso.

Yakima Police say gunshots were reported at 10:15 a.m. in the area of Prospect Way and North 66th Avenue. Officers found Mitchell, who was pronounced dead at the scene, and Jasso Alcazar, who was later pronounced dead at a Seattle hospital.

The shooting may have been the result of a domestic violence dispute, per YPD. The two were reportedly in a relationship.
