YAKIMA, Wash. – The names of the victims of the home invasion stabbing on Boggess Lane and the shooting at Seasons Performance Hall were released at a press conference from Tue., June 11.

Yakima Police say Joshua Hilmer, 42, was killed in the reported stabbing trying to protect his 15-year-old daughter from a home intruder on Fri., June 7.

The daughter reportedly went to the hospital following the intrusion. She is now under the care of other family members.

YPD says the 33-year-old suspect of the stabbing, who was booked into the Yakima County Jail, was “acting erratically” and it is unknown if mental health or drugs or alcohol played a role in his actions.

That same day, 38-year-old James Cloinger was reportedly near the Seasons Performance Hall in Yakima and later died from his injuries.

YP reports that gang-affiliated artists were performing at the hall and a rival gang took the opportunity to attack. Cloinger was not gang-affiliated.

Four people were detained as a result of the shooting, with one being arrested for a concealed carry violation.
