Victim killed in Milton-Freewater Chinese restaurant robbery identified

MILTON-FREEWATER, Ore.- UPDATE. FEB. 21. The victim who died in the robbery at the Red Tea Garden Chinese Restaurant in Milton-Freewater on Feb. 18 has been identified.

The victim’s daughter has confirmed to NonStop Local that her mother, Shu Yi, died in the robbery.

Milton-Freewater PD’s investigation into the robbery and death is ongoing.

FEB. 19. 11:50 P.M.: The person attacked during the robbery at Red Tea Garden in Milton-Freewater, Ore. has died, according to police.

In a Facebook post, MFPD said the the situation is still under investigation.

Milton-Freewater Police are investigating a robbery at the Red Tea Garden on Feb. 18.

Milton-Freewater Police responded to the restaurant at 14 N. Columbia St. around 7:27 p.m. for reports of a robbery that had just occured.

According to Milton-Freewater Police, officers arrived and found an injured employee of the restaurant who was then transported to St. Mary Medical Center.

The suspect in the robbery was in the bar of the restaurant when they allegedly took the cash drawer from the register and left. After being confronted outside the suspect reportedly came back into the restaurant.

The investigation into the alleged robbery is ongoing and Milton-Freewater Police intend to release more information when it becomes known and available.
