Victim in North 18th Avenue shooting in Yakima identified

YAKIMA, Wash. – Yakima County Coroner Jim Curtice identified the victim of the shooting that left one dead in Yakima.

Thirty-year-old Tolerance Jackson of Yakima died of a gunshot on Friday, Aug. 23. Curtice declared the manner of death asa homicide.

According to Yakima Police Public Information Officer Yvette Inzunza, the man was walking at 3:55 p.m. north on North 18th Avenue at the crossing of Willow Street when he was shot and killed.

YPD closed the intersection for some hours while they investigated. Inzunza said there is no indication on if the shooting was gang related.

YPD asked the community to check residential and business security cameras in the area for anything that appears suspicious.
