YAKIMA, Wash. – A Yakima Police officer was injured after a stolen car crashed into the police car they were in on Thursday, according to a press release.
YPD says Property Crime Detectives and Proactive Unit officers tried arresting two people around 4 p.m. who were allegedly trying to sell a stolen vehicle in a parking lot on East Nob Hill Boulevard.
The driver of the stolen vehicle attempted to drive away as he was approached by officers, crashing into a patrol car and causing minor injuries to the officer inside.
The Washington State Patrol conducted a collision and DUI investigation following the incident. Investigators initially believe that drugs played a part in the incident.
The driver and passenger of the stolen vehicle were arrested for multiple charges, according to YPD.
