UNION GAP, Wash.-The family of three people who died in a house fire in Union Gap on Nov. 27 have been identified.

Lucio Sanchez Hernandez, 28, Bernice Hernandez Baca, 29 and one-year-old Daniela Sanchez Hernandez all died from carbon monoxide poisoning and smoke inhalation, according to Yakima County Chief Deputy Coroner, Marshall Slight.

Firefighters were dispatched to the house fire around 5:30 a.m. The fire was a “cold smoke” fire, meaning the fire was out when crews arrived, but smoke remained in the home.

According to Slight, the fire was reportedly started when a synthetic leather chair that was backed against an in-wall heater caught fire.
