YAKIMA, Wash.-Two local students recently served as Pages in the Washington House of Representatives in Olympia.
Sora McPherson of Davis High School and Evelin Severino from the West Valley School District were sponsored by Rep. Gina Mosbrucker from the 14th Legislative District.
During their time as Pages, McPherson and Severino were able to observe the Legislature at work, while performing duties, such as delivering documents and messages to Legislators’ Offices, committee meetings and the House Chamber, according to a social media post from the Yakima School District.
The Legislative Pages also attended page school where they learned about the Legislature, it’s process and participants, while also participating in legislative ceremonies.
To serve as a page, students between the ages of 14 and 17 must obtain permission from their parents and schools, as well as be sponsored by a Legislator.
