WALLA WALLA, Wash.-Firefighters responded to two fires at two different scrap yards within an hour early on the morning of Sept. 10.
Walla Walla firefighters were dispatched to 1042 N. 13th Avenue for reports of a fire in the backyard of a home around 4:50 a.m.
According to the WWFD, the fire was determined to be in a scrap yard and fire crews gained access to the area and put the fire out, however, another fire at a different scrap yard at 1103 N. 12th Avenue was reported around 5:49 a.m.
The WWFD had both fires under control around 7:05 a.m. and no injuries were reported in the fires.
The cause of the fires, which caused combined damages of an estimated $12,500, is unknown at this time, however, they are considered suspicious, according to WWFD.
The two fires were the fifth fire-related incident in the area since Aug. 1 and anyone with any information regarding the fires is asked to contact a detective at 509-527-4434 and reference case number 2024-17115.
