Two men arrested in Richland after alleged abduction attempt

RICHLAND, Wash.-Two men were arrested on suspicion of attempted abduction in Richland on June 27.

Richland PD officers responded to reports of a young female being forced into a car near the Mowry Square apartments around 4 p.m., according to a social media post from RPD.

During its investigation, Richland PD learned that two juvenile girls, who are reportedly wards of the state, ran away from school in Kennewick with a man that lived at the apartment complex.

Benton County Sheriff’s Deputies stopped the car with two male suspects and the two girls in it at the intersection of Leslie and Bartlett Road after it left the apartments.

According to the RPD, one of the suspects stayed in the car when it was stopped and was arrested, however, the second suspect ran from the car, but was found a few blocks away after tips from the community and with help from a drone.

The two girls were taken into protective custody before being safely returned, according to the RPD and its Criminal Investigations Team is now handling the case.
